VBC rolls behind Manning’s 39

The state's leading scorer added to her season total in a girls basketball game Saturday when Isabelle Manning outscored Van Buren County's opponent 39-37.
Washington downed at Oskaloosa
OSKALOOSA - Washington lost on the road to Oskaloosa 44-27 to fall to 1-12. Pressley Blommers led the Indians with 13 points. Osky (6-7) was 10-for-29 on 3-pointers.
Manning melts Mustangs
KEOSAUQUA - Van Buren County had no trouble in their home game against Davis County. The Warriors thumped the Mustangs 66-37, behind a 39-point, 11 rebound output from Isabel Manning.
Manning nailed three 3-pointers on the night, and got to the free-throw line 19 times, making 14. Ella Jirak scored 13 points, seven of which came from the line. Zoe Best scored 10.
Cardinal falls at Pekin
PACKWOOD - The Panthers extinguished the Comets by taking a 10-3 lead then upping it to 26-7 by halftime in a 48-19 Super Conference non-divisional win.
Erika Coleman led the Panther win with 16 points, sinking 4-of-8 3-pointers. Kerrigan Pope scored 14 points and had 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Gracie Baetsle, Makenzie Dahlstrom and Sarah Eubanks doled out three assists apiece.
Alexia McClure led the Comets with 13 points and six rebounds.
Pekin is 7-7 overall while Cardinal is 3-9.
WACO loses 1st half lead
DANVILLE - WACO was two quarters away from beating Danville for the first time since 2011, but the Bears pulled away in the second half to win 52-46.
WACO led 14-10 after one quarter and 24-23 at halftime, but Danville outscored the Warriors 29-22 in the second half to steal the South Division victory.
