KEOSAUQUA - The Van Buren County football team couldn't duplicate their season-opening win seven days prior when the Mediapolis Bulldogs came into town on Friday night. A tough Bulldog defense gave the Warriors fits, and Mediapolis defeated VBC 41-6.
The Bulldogs shut the Warriors out for the first three quarters of the ballgame. Mediapolis led 7-0 after the first quarter, 21-0 at halftime and 41-0 after a 20-point third.
VBC's lone touchdown came from Sam Warth, who found the end zone on a 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, the final score of the game.
Although the VBC defense gave up 40 points, the Warriors did force four turnovers, one week after recording six take-aways in the win over Central Lee.
The Warriors are now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the district. They'll have a hefty task this Friday when they hit the road to take on a 3-0 and state ranked Sigourney-Keota squad.
