Volleyball all-district teams announced
Mid-Prairie leads with four total selections, including district coach of the year
The Iowa Girls Coaches Association has released its annual All-District Volleyball teams and a number of Union area athletes are representing on the 2023 list.
Class 3A’s Southeast region, holds five Union representatives. Mid-Prairie notches four spots, including the district coach of the year selection. Washington earns one player selection.
In Class 2A’s Southeast district, Van Buren County has the lone area pick and in 1A, Winfield-Mt. Union has two representatives and New London one.
Mid-Prairie’s All-District picks includes junior Dakota Mitchell and sophomores Harper Pacha and Jovi Evans.
The Golden Hawks head coach Sherry Evans is the 2023 3A Southeast District Coach of the Year after helping Mid-Prairie to the regional final.
For Washington, sophomore Leighton Messinger is an all-district pick.
Van Buren County senior Ivy Davison is the sole 2A selection and in 1A senior’s Audrie Gipple and Aurey Meeker are Winfield-Mt. Union’s pair of picks. For New London, it’s senior Sophie Malott earning the distinction.
