The volleyball teams in the Southeast Conference have not had good seasons as of late. Burlington joined Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant, Washington, Fort Madison and Keokuk for the 2019 season.
In their first year in the Southeast Conference, the Grayhounds were the only team to win more games overall than they lost. In the 2020 season last year, Burlington was the only team above .500 again.
Keokuk graduated three seniors from the 2020 team while the Grayhounds return three players, graduating eight from last season. Fort Madison lost 11 seniors.
Returning players on the non-Union three Southeast Conference teams that coaches may have to look out for are:
⋆ Brittney Kelley, junior, Keokuk — Her 449 assists were second in the SEC.
⋆ Morgan Schroeder, senior, Burlington — Serving at 90.5 percent scored 40 aces.
⋆ Abby Wolter, senior, Keokuk — Total blocks of 38 was fifth in the SEC, 140 kills were eighth, hitting at a .276 rate, 65 digs, 184-of-192 serves for 95.8 percent, her 25 aces was the ninth best total.
⋆ Alaina Simpson, senior, Fort Madison — Total of 19 blocks was 14th in the SEC, 59 digs, three aces.
