Volleyball roundup: Columbus wins third straight

New London (7-14) 3, Cardinal (5-13) 1
Cardinal won the opening set against New London on Monday, but the Tigers bounced back winning the next three for the match victory.
Cardinal took set one 25-21 before the Tigers answered, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-20.
Sophie Malott led the Tigers with 16 kills. Marlianna Woodsmall finished with 19 assists.
Malott also had 21 digs in the matchup. Morgan Jones, Tysann Gipple and Malott all had three aces.
For Cardinal, Emarie Finch led with eight kills. Megan Ward had 18 assists.
Brinlee Ostrander tallied 30 digs. Cynthia Albert and Megan Ward each had one ace.
Winfield-Mt. Union (16-12) 3, WACO (14-9) 0
Southeast Iowa Super Conference North foes Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO did battle on Tuesday night.
When all was said and done on the night, it was the Wolves walking away with the three set victory 27-25, 25-18 and 25-11.
For WMU, Audrie Gipple led with 15 kills in the matchup.
Jessi Renken and Aurey Meeker both tallied 16 assists.
Defensively, Pacey Schlee had 10 digs and Tessa Huston had eight.
Mariana Hagmeier and Gipple both notched three aces.
Columbus (6-15) 3, Louisa-Muscatine (0-17) 0
Columbus grabbed yet another win on Tuesday night with a victory over Louisa-Muscatine.
The Wildcats topped the Falcons 25-19, 25-19 and 25-13 in three sets.
Highland (10-12) 3, Lone Tree (3-17) 1
Highland picked up win number 10 on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Lone Tree.
The Huskies took the opening two sets 25-18 and 25-21 and later won the fourth 25-16.
Lone Tree stole the third set 25-19.
Lorelei Lueck led the Huskies with 14 kills and Payton Brun had 12.
Grace Prybil finished with 34 assists. Madison Beeson and Sarah Burton carded 21 digs.
Courtney Chalupa had seven aces for Highland as well.
Hillcrest Academy (7-11) 3, Cedar Valley Christian (4-10) 0
Hillcrest Academy swept Cedar Valley Christian on Tuesday night 25-20, 25-5 and 25-14.
Claire Withrow finished with 23 assists and 13 digs. Lydia Beachy had 14 digs and six aces. Malia Yoder ended with 10 kills and five aces. Kylee Statler tallied five kills and four blocks.
Albia (18-9) 3, Cardinal (5-14) 0
Cardinal was defeated by Albia on Tuesday night in three straight sets.
The Comets played the Blue Demons close in set one, but came up short 25-23. Albia took the following two, 25-17 and 25-21.
Mediapolis (13-11) 3, Van Buren County (11-18) 0
On Tuesday night, Van Buren County suffered its seventh straight loss after falling to Mediapolis, 3-0.
Mediapolis took the sets, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-13.
Wapello (18-13) 3, Pekin (4-16) 0
Pekin couldn’t overcome Wapello in the two’s Tuesday night matchup.
The Panthers were defeated by Arrows 25-17, 25-15 and 25-4 in three sets.
North Mahaska (14-7) 3, Keota (7-11) 0
Keota was swept by North Mahaska on Monday night in three sets.
North Mahaska took the victory 25-18, 25-15 and 25-23.
For the Eagles, Emily Sheetz had three kills. Grace Conger and Olivia Lyle followed with two.
Cassandra Swantz led in assists with five. Swantz also had three aces.
Kimberly Clarahan finished with 14 digs.
