Volleyball roundup: Five area teams sweep

New London 3, Hillcrest Academy 0
New London moves on in Class 1A Region 7 with a victory over Hillcrest Academy.
The Tiger won 25-6, 25-13 and 25-6.
Malia Yoder had four kills for the Ravens. Claire Withrow had 11 assists. Yoder also finished with 15 digs as well.
New London will take on Iowa Valley (13-25) in the quarterfinal round.
Hillcrest Academy finishes the year 4-24.
WACO 3, Melcher-Dallas 0
WACO opened the postseason with a stellar performance against Melcher-Dallas.
The Warriors won 25-11, 25-8 and 25-8.
Ellah Kissell had nine kills to lead WACO. Emma Wagler had six kills has well.
Grace Coble led in assists with 22. Kissell finished with a team-high 11 digs as well.
The Warriors had 31 aces in the win.
WACO moves on to face North Mahaska (20-8) on Wednesday.
Winfield-Mt. Union 3, Twin Cedars 0
WMU put together a dominant performance against Twin Cedars, sweeping the Sabers 25-13, 25-11 and 25-12.
Melina Oepping led with 13 kills and Bradie Buffington had nine.
Keely Malone finished with 23 assists in the win.
Keetyn Townsley had 17 digs for the Wolves as well. She also had six aces on the night as well.
The Wolves will take on Wapello (16-19) in the Class 1A Region 8 quarterfinal round.
Van Buren County 3, Cardinal 0
Van Buren County moves on in the Class 2A Region 8 bracket with a sweep of Cardinal.
The Warriors put together a dominant outing, taking the match with victories of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-4.
Ivy Davison led Van Buren with 10 kills in the win. Annabelle Cormier finished with 23 assists. Cormier and Tessa Sayer each had eight digs. Davison also had eight aces in the victory.
Brenna Guiter paces Cardinal with six kills. Megan Ward led with three assists.
Cardinal finishes its season at 3-21. Van Buren will take on West Burlington (34-6) on Wednesday.
Highland 3, Tri-County 0
Highland advances in the Class 1A Region 7 bracket with a win over Tri-County.
The Huskies won the match 25-20, 25-18 and 27-25.
Sarah Burton finished with a game-high 16 kills. Adeline Krotz had eight kills as well.
MyLei Smith and Grace Prybil each had 17 assists.
Smith led in defensively with 19 digs.
Highland will take on Central City (19-12) on Wednesday.
Central Decatur 3, Pekin 0
Pekin had its season ended on Monday night against Central Decatur.
The Cardinals downed the Panthers 25-12, 25-21 and 25-22.
Emma Phillips led Pekin with three kills. Claire Roth, Kayse Miller and Kyli Fitzsimmons all had two kills. Quinnlyn Baker finished with eight assists.
Claire Roth finished with 15 digs.
Pekin ends its season at 3-22.
Wapello 3, Keota 0
The Eagles were topped 25-11, 25-15 and 25-11 in the matchup.
Izzi Chalupa and Nicole Clarahan each finished with two kills.
Cassandra Swantz, Emiy Sheetz and Grace Conger each had one assist.
Conger and Clarahan both had 14 digs in the loss.
Keota finishes its season at 4-19.
