Volleyball roundup: Huskies and Wildcats sweep
Highland and Columbus pick up 3-set North Division wins on Tuesday night

Tuesday night saw a full slate of games in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference, as the majority of area teams were in action. New London and Mid-Prairie scooped up wins on Monday.
Highland 3, Lone Tree 0
The Huskies swept the Lions in a SEISC North Division clash, beating Lone Tree 25-18, 25-28, 25-12 on the road.
Sarah Burton had 12 kills to lead the Huskies. Adeline Kotz finished with nine kills and 22 digs. MyLei Smith ad 15 assists.
Columbus 3, Louisa-Muscatine 0
It was all Wildcats in a North Division clash at Columbus. The Wildcats swept the Falcons 25-18, 25-23, 25-15.
Victoria Howell collected eight kills for the Wildcats. Jessica Del Rio had six.
Wapello 3, Pekin 1
The Panthers couldn’t hold on to any momentum from the third set, as they went down against the visiting Arrows 25-19, 25-13, 19-25, 25-15.
Kyli Fitzsimmons had 13 kills in the loss. Quinnlyn Baker collected 21 assists, and Alex Parsons finished with 18 digs.
Mediapolis 3, Van Buren County 0
Van Buren County couldn’t pull out a win against new SEISC South rival Mediapolis. The Bullettes defeated the Warriors 25-18, 25-16, 25-11.
Albia 3, Cardinal 0
The Comets were swept by the Lady Dees in South Central Conference action, falling 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.
Cynthia Albert had six kills to lead the team. Emily Ward finished with eight assists, and Brinlee Ostrander collected 12 digs.
No. 15 (1A) New London 3, Cardinal 0 (Monday)
Former SEISC South rivals met up in New London, where the Tigers swept the Comets 25-13, 25-8, 25-5.
Natalie Burden had 17 kills for the Tigers. Elly Manning assisted all 30 of New London’s kills. Manning, Emma Nye and Sophie Malott all had seven digs.
Cardinal’s Brenna Guiter had four kills. Megan Ward finished with five assists, and Ostrander had nine digs.
North Mahaska 3, Keota 0 (Monday)
Keota couldn’t win a set in a South Iowa Cedar League showdown against North Mahaska. The Warhawks took out the Eagles 25-14, 25-16, 15-13.
No. 11 (3A) Mid-Prairie 3, Independence 0 (Monday)
Just two days after winning the New London tournament, Mid-Prairie waltzed into Independence and scored a three-set win, taking it 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.
Landry Pacha paced the Golden Hawks with 10 kills and 12 assists in the win. Ella Groenewold had eight kills. Avery Helmuth finished with 13 assists, and Dakota Mitchell had 22 digs.
