Volleyball roundup: Mid-Prairie advances to RVC finals

Highland (13-15) 3, WACO (17-12) 2
Highland and WACO went the distance in their Tuesday night meeting.
WACO took the first set, 25-17, but Highland won the next two, 25-20 and 25-21.
The Warriors bounced back with a fourth set winner 25-19, but the Huskies hung on for the win, 15-6.
Mid-Prairie goes 2-1 in RVC South Tournament
Mid-Prairie picked up a pair of wins in the River Valley Conference South Tournament on Monday. The Golden Hawks finished third overall.
The Golden Hawks defeated Durant in two set, 21-10 and 21-10.
Mid-Prairie’s second victory came against Tipton, 25-18 and 25-20.
The lone loss came against West Liberty. The Comets got the better of the Golden Hawks 2-0, 25-23 and 30-28.
Leaders on the night included Dakota Mitchell with 36 digs, Jovi Evans with 35 assists, 28 kills, 27 digs and seven aces.
Avery Helmuth ended with 34 assists. Lanee Duwa had 16 digs, Harper Pacha with 15 kills and 11 digs, Paige Safly with 12 kills, Harland with 11 digs, Callie Huber with 10 kills and Harland, Safly and Huber all with three blocks.
The Golden Hawks advance to Thursday’s finals.
Columbus (8-16) 3, Pekin (4-18) 0
Columbus grabbed win number eight with a three-set victory over Pekin on Tuesday evening.
The Wildcats topped the Panthers, 25-13, 25-14 and 25-11.
For Columbus, Lily Coil led with eight kills. Coil also led in digs with 14.
Aracely Garza followed with seven. Audrey Hoback and Jessica Del Rio each totaled six.
Daniela Diaz tallied 29 assists in the victory with 11 digs.
Coil finished with two aces. Diaz, Hoback, Garza and Jocelyn Hernandez all had one ace.
Keota (9-11) 3, BGM (9-12) 1
Keota topped BGM on Monday night after dropping the opening set.
After falling to BGM 25-20 in set one, the Eagles went on to win with three straight wins, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-19.
Cassandra Swantz led Keota with nine kills, nine assists, 17 digs and six aces.
Kennedy Jackson followed with six kills.
Lainey Swanson ended with nine assists and 11 digs.
Kimberly Clarahan had a team-high 20 digs as well as a team-high eight aces.
Hillcrest Academy (10-13) 3, Louisa-Muscatine (0-21) 0
Hillcrest Academy hit double digit wins on Tuesday night with the sweep of Louisa-Muscatine.
The Ravens downed the Falcons 25-11, 25-15 and 25-16.
Malia Yoder finished with 11 kills for Hillcrest Academy. Claire Withrow ended with six.
Withrow also led with a high of 17 assists.
Lydia Beachy had 10 digs to lead the Ravens. Erin Bontrager and Yoder had eight.
Kylee Statler finished with eight aces as well.
Danville (12-14) 3, New London (9-17) 0
New London came up short to Danville on Tuesday after some far fought sets.
The Tigers were defeated 26-24, 25-19 and 25-16 in three sets.
Belle Plaine (17-12) 3, Keota (9-12) 0
Keota was defeated by Belle Plaine on Monday night in the second of two matches played on the night.
The Eagles were defeated by the Plainsmen 25-19, 25-12 and 25-23.
Olivia Lyle and Izzi Chalupa had four kills.
Cassandra Swantz finished with 10 assists.
Kimberly Clarahan led with 13 digs and Chalupa ended with 12.
Davis County (12-22) 3, Cardinal (7-16) 0
Cardinal was swept by Davis County on Tuesday night by a score of 3-0, 25-20, 25-10 and 25-15.
Emaire Finch finished with five kills and Kolbi Saner ended with four.
Emily Ward and Megan Ward both tallied seven assists.
Defensively, Emma Becker and Brinlee Ostrander each had eight digs.
Cynthia Albert, Emma Becker, Ostrander and Skyllar Welch all had one ace.
