Volleyball roundup: Mt. Pleasant takes third at Northeast

Mt. Pleasant finishes 2-3 for third at Northeast
Mt. Pleasant headed up to Northeast High School on Saturday for the Northeast Volleyball Invitational.
The Panthers competed in three matches on the day, winning two of the three for a third overall finish.
Mt. Pleasant downed Prince of Peace, along with Camanche in three sets.
The Panther’s lone loss came from the hands of hosts Northeast 21-18, 21-13.
A story focused solely on Mt. Pleasant will be completed tomorrow.
Columbus (6-15) 3, Lone Tree (3-16) 0
Columbus took care of business last Thursday with a clean sweep of Lone Tree.
The Wildcats defeated the Lions 25-15, 25-12 and 25-22 in three sets.
Lily Coil posted a team-high 13 kills for the Wildcats. Kennedy Woepking ended with six.
Daniela Diaz finished with 30 assists to lead Columbus.
Coil led in digs as well, tallying 22. Diaz followed with 13.
Leading in aces was Coil with seven.
Highland (9-12) 3, Hillcrest Academy (6-11) 0
Highland and Hillcrest Academy duked it out on Thursday night with three straight sets all separated by five points or less.
In those three sets, it was the Huskies who prevailed, winning 25-23, 27-25 and 25-20.
Lorelei Lueck led Highland with 10 kills. Adeline Krotz followed with seven.
Grace Prybil finished with 13 assists and Laney Skelton had 11.
Madison Beeson ended with 22 digs. Prybil finished with a team-best of four aces.
For Hillcrest Academy, Kylee Statler and Malia Yoder both tallied 12 kills.
Claire Withrow finished with 29 assists and 14 digs. Lydia Beachy followed with 13 digs.
Erin Bontrager, Niva Helmuth and Kylee Statler all ended with three aces.
Mid-Prairie (20-3) 3, Tipton (14-11) 0
Mid-Prairie just keeps on winning. The Golden Hawks grabbed win number 20 on Thursday against the Tigers of Tipton.
The Golden Hawks downed Tipton 25-21, 25-16 and 25-22.
Jovi Evans and Callie Huber both finished with eight kills for Mid-Prairie.
Evans also finished with 18 assists and Avery Helmuth had 12.
Defensively, Dakota Mitchell ended with 18 digs and Evans 12.
Laurin Fay totaled three aces to lead Mid-Prairie.
Winfield-Mt. Union (13-10) 3, Louisa-Muscatine (0-15) 0
Winfield-Mt. Union picked up another win on Thursday night with a sweep of Louisa-Muscatine.
The Wolves topped the Falcons 25-17, 25-16 and 25-10 in three sets.
Audrie Gipple led the Wolves with 16 kills on the night.
Aurey Meeker finished with 16 assists and Jessi Renken had 13.
Tessa Huston and Pacey Schlee each ended with eight digs.
Meeker led the Wolves with four aces in the win.
Colfax-Mingo (4-10) 3, Keota (7-10) 2
Keota came up just short to Colfax-Mingo on Thursday night.
The Eagles won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-20, but dropped three straight from then on out, 25-14, 25-16 and 15-12.
Izzi Chalupa and Olivia Lyle each finished with seven kills for the Eagles.
Lainey Swanson ended with 15 assists.
Chalupa had 29 digs, while Kimberly Clarahan and Swanson each finished with 24.
Grace Conger, Clarahan and Swanson all had three aces in the loss.
Wapello (17-13) 3, WACO (14-8) 0
WACO was topped by Wapello last Thursday in three sets.
The Warriors were defeated 25-19, 25-15 and 25-17 in the matchup.
