14 different teams from around the area were represented at the Southeast Iowa All-Star Volleyball Classic Saturday night at FHS.
Seniors were chosen from teams in the SEISC and Southeast conferences along with the addition of Burlington to form two squads for the exhibition match. Coaches from those schools were responsible for nominating and selecting the players.
A sizeable crowd on hand was treated to terrific action that ended with the Red Team?s 25-18, 14-25, 30-28, 27-25 victory over the Blue Team thanks to come-from-behind victories in the final two sets.
Fairfield?s Dana Diers was a member of the winning squad while other area players Rachel Schwarz of Fairfield and Chelsea Aschenbrenner of Cardinal wore blue.
The classic has been an annual tradition since 1993 with Fairfield being the host several times. The teams received just two hours of practice time Saturday afternoon before beginning play at 7 p.m.
