BURLINGTON - Winfield-Mt. Union had their hands full on Tuesday night. The Wolves played at Notre Dame against a red-hot Nike squad that came in on a seven-game winning streak. Notre Dame stretched that streak to eight, beating W-MU 17-2 in four innings.
After a three-run Notre Dame first inning, W-MU cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the second. The Wolves never scored again, however, and Notre Dame added four in the second, four more in the third and six in the fourth to end the game via the 15-run mercy rule.
W-MU has now lost 11 games in a row. They sit at 1-18 overall this season and will look to snap their streak at New London tonight (Wednesday) in a SEISC cross-over game.
