W-MU boys fall to Mepo, HTC

WINFIELD -- The Winfield-Mt. Union boys' basketball team suffered a couple of losses over the weekend. The Wolves dropped a road game 62-44 at Mediapolis, and fell 61-41 at home against Holy Trinity Catholic.
In the Mediapolis game, W-MU trailed 18-11 after one quarter, 31-20 at halftime and 47-36 after three quarters.
Jared Arnold had 12 points and five rebounds in the road loss. Dauntae Oepping scored 10. Christian Gerot had nine. Ty Yocum scored six. Juanito Piper finished with four. Graham Hagge had two points and four assists, and Jacob Kongable scored one point.
In Saturday's home game against HTC, the Wolves trailed 15-9 after one period, 29-17 at halftime and 42-24 after three quarters.
Gerot, Oepping and Arnold each scored nine points to co-lead the team in the loss to HTC. Yocum scored six points and pulled down four rebounds. Piper had three points and three assists. Dawson Bergthold scored three points, and Bryce Wade finished with two.
