W-MU boys take fifth at Indian Relays

WAPELLO - The Winfield-Mt. Union boys' track and field team was in Wapello on Tuesday night for the Indian Relays. The Wolves scored 52 poitns to place fifth overall.
The hosting Wapello squad won the meet with 113 points. West Liberty scored 105 for second. Washington was third with 83, and Mediapolis was fourth with 69. W-MU defeated Danville (47), West Burlington-Notre Dame (40), Lone Tree (31), Wilton (20) and West Branch (14).
The Wolves won three events on the day. Brandon Snowden took first in the 100-meter dash, crossing in 11.34 seconds. Juanito Piper took second int he 200-meter dash, crossing in 24.03 seconds, and Talon Newton took first in the high jump, leaping 6-01.
W-MU didn't have any second-place finishes, but they did pick up one third. The 4X800 team of Noah Sparrow, Asa Gipple, Destiny Calvin and Keith Brown crossed the tape in 10:57.26.
