W-MU girls rally back to beat Pekin

WINFIELD - It was a battle on Tuesday night when the Pekin girls traveled to Winfield-Mt. Union for a SEISC North Division showdown. The Panthers went up early but W-MU won the final three quarters to pull out a 39-30 win.
Pekin's defense was suffocating early on, leading the Panthers to a 10-4 first quarter lead. W-MU scrapped back in the second half to tie the game at halftime, 18-18.
W-MU took the third quarter 13-7 and the fourth quarter 8-5 en route to the nine-point victory.
Farrah Nelson had a double-double for W-MU, finishing the night with 12 poitns and 12 rebounds. Jobey Malone finished with eight.
Ali Cockerham scored six points and dished out four assists. Jami Wilkerson had five. Melina Oepping and Bradie Buffington scored two points each and Kyndal Townsley had one.
Pekin was led by a 13-point outing from Erika Coleman. Sophie Wttrock scored seven. Sarah Eubanks had four. Gracie Baestle, Kaylee Peiffer and Emilee Linder finished with two each.
