WINFIELD - The Winfield-Mt. Union softball team has now won three of their last four games after defeating Danville in an SEISC crossover game on Tuesday. The Wolves beat the Bears at home, 7-3.
Danville held a temporary lead, scoring one run in the first inning, but W-MU rallied for six in the second and never gave up the lead.
The Bears had cut the W-MU lead back to three runs with a two-run top of the third, and had a chance to cut in deeper after holding the W-MU offense scoreless in the third. The Wolves, however, held in the fourth and tacked on another run of their own in their half of the inning.
W-MU is now 15-8 with just one game left in the regular season. They'll travel to New London tonight (Wednesday) for a Henry County showdown. On Monday, July 8, the Wolves will kick off the 2019 postseason with a first round home game against Tri-County.
