W-MU XC runs at Van Buren, prepares for Fairfield
KEOSAUQUA ? Winfield-Mt. Union cross-country runners competed at the Van Buren Invitational on Tuesday, where the boys placed third out of six teams in the Class A division.
The Wolves were led by Kevin Lintz, who placed fourth with a time of 18:36. W-MU?s Levi Giese rounded out the top 10 in the race with a time of 19:40.

KEOSAUQUA ? Winfield-Mt. Union cross-country runners competed at the Van Buren Invitational on Tuesday, where the boys placed third out of six teams in the Class A division.
The Wolves were led by Kevin Lintz, who placed fourth with a time of 18:36. W-MU?s Levi Giese rounded out the top 10 in the race with a time of 19:40.
Mediapolis led the team scoring with 36 points, followed by Van Buren with 66 and W-MU with 79. The Wolves beat out Danville/New London (112 points), Wayne County (141) and Harmony (210).
Dillon Timmerman of the Mediapolis won the Class A boys? 5K race with a time of 17:40, and the Class A girls? 4K race was won by Cassie Sutuflick of Danville/New London with a time of 15:00.
The W-MU girls didn?t have enough runners for a team score, but they were led by Grace Edwards, the only W-MU runner to finish in the top 10. She placed seventh with a time of 19:05.
In the team scores, Mediapolis also won the girls? side of the Class A race with 64 points.
Bigger schools also competed in Keosauqua on Tuesday in the Class AA division. Mt. Pleasant?s Southeast Conference rival, Ft. Madison, won both the girls? and boys? sides of the meet, led by Jessica Lamb and Isaac Steffensmeier. Lamb placed first in the girls? race with a time of 15:40 and Steffensmeier won the boys? race with a time of 15:49.
Davis County placed second and Fairfield took third on the girls? side, while Fairfield was the runner up with Davis County taking third on the boys? side.
The Wolves run again Thursday afternoon at the Fairfield Invite, where the Mt. Pleasant cross-country teams will also be competing. It will be the first time this season that the Panthers face SEC teams: Fairfield, Ft. Madison and Washington will all be there.
