WACO basketball teams split wins at West Burlington
The WACO basketball teams traveled to West Burlington Tuesday, Dec. 20, where the girls won their game 39-27 while the boys lost 24-69.
WACO would get the first points in the game and would hold onto that lead until halfway through the first quarter when West Burlington would take the lead by one point.

The WACO basketball teams traveled to West Burlington Tuesday, Dec. 20, where the girls won their game 39-27 while the boys lost 24-69.
WACO would get the first points in the game and would hold onto that lead until halfway through the first quarter when West Burlington would take the lead by one point.
WACO would score an additional two points with less than two minutes left on the clock ending the quarter up 8-7.
West Burlington scored at the beginning of the second quarter with a bucket, and WACO would score a basket halfway through the second quarter.
The two teams would go back and forth with points the remainder of the quarter with WACO going into the half down 14-18.
WACO would take the lead near the end of the third quarter after West Burlington would only score three points and WACO added eight to be up by one going into the final frame.
WACO continued their scoring ways in the fourth quarter by adding another 17 points and holding West Burlington to only six, giving the Warriors the win.
Halle Kissell led the team in scoring with 18 points, eight of those coming from the charity stripe. Kiana Miller scored 12 points in the game including two from outside the 3-point line.
Clara Schmitz added four, Nadiyah Brown added three points and Kristen Conelly scored two points, both from the free-throw line.
In the boys? game, West Burlington took the lead in less than two minutes and never relinquished it as they were up 8-10 after the first quarter, 8-10.
It was all West Burlington in the second quarter as they scored 32 points while WACO was only allowed to score seven putting the score at 15-42 going into the break.
WACO would add another five points in the third quarter and West Burlington would score an additional 20 points for a commanding 62-20 lead. Only four points would go on the board for WACO in the final quarter and another seven would go up for West Burlington.
The girls are 2-9 and the boys have lost all eight games of their season as they both enter the holiday break. WACO next plays at Cardinal of Eldon Tuesday, Jan. 3, beginning at 6 p.m.
