WACO boys drop tight game at Danville

DANVILLE - The WACO boys' basketball team staged a road comeback at Danville on Tuesday night. The Warriors nearly stormed all the way back from an 11-point deficit after the third quarter, but Danville held on for a 66-62 lead.
Danville led 16-14 after the first quarter. The Bears' defense held WACO to just five points in the second period and Danville led 30-19 at the half.
A frenetic third quarter produced 44 total points as the two squads each scored 22 to bring the score to 52-41 after three quarters.
WACO was at their best when it mattered most, but the Warriors just ran out of time. WACO won the fourth quarter 21-14, but Danville hung on to hand the Warriors their second loss of the season.
Nik Coble had a monster game despite the loss. Coble scored 19 points, pulled down 21 rebounds and blocked eight shots. Gabe Reichenbach scored 15 points, and Colton Horak finished with 14 points, eight assists and six steals. Drew Kissell scored nine points in the loss. Elijah McGohan finished with five.
WACO fell to 4-2 on the season after the loss. They are now 2-2 in the SIESC South Division. The Warriors will host Holy Trinity in their next game, a conference showdown on Friday, Dec. 14.
