WAYLAND ? Michaela Kremer scored 18 points, but it wasn?t enough as the Warrior girls dropped a 60-42 conference game to undefeated Mediapolis on Tuesday night.
The Bullettes jumped to an early lead, taking control of the game by a score of 19-14 by the end of the first quarter. They had stretched that lead to 33-21 by the end of the half.
The Warriors outscored Mediapolis in the third quarter, showing a little spark as they scored 10 points while allowing the Bullettes only eight.
The Warriors kept up their pace through the fourth quarter, scoring 11 points as the game came to a close, but the Bullettes managed to put up 19 points in that final quarter to seal the game.
Kremer?s 18 points were a game-high, with Mediapolis? top scorer, Aubrey Siegle, putting up 17 points on the night. Kremer shot 53.3 percent (eight-for-15) from the floor, and made two of six free throws.
Aaliyah Brown added eight points to WACO?s total. Jaelyn Unternahrer scored five points. Gaby Wagler and Jalyssa Jepson each came off the bench to score four and three points, respectively. Cierra Vradenberg and Jordan Rodgers each chipped in two.
The team shot 51.4 percent on the night, but simply didn?t get enough shots off to earn the win.
With a team-high 10 rebounds to add to her scoring total, Kremer picked up the double-double. Jepson and Rodgers each grabbed two boards.
Rodgers also anbbed three four thefts and Unternahrer dished six assists.
The Warriors are now 4-6 overall this season and 4-5 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
