WACO girls drop home game

WAYLAND - The WACO girls' basketball team struggled to score against a tough Danville defense on Monday night. The Bears held the Warriors to six points or lower in the first three quarters and knocked off WACO 50-27.
WACO was outscored 20-6 in the first quarter and 34-8 at halftime. Danville stretched their lead to 40-13 after three quarters.
WACO did win the fourth quarter 14-10, more than doubling their score for the game.
Kristen Conley and Clara Schmitz had eight points apiece in the loss. Grace Conwell scored four. Layney Graber, Maysan Lee and Aubri Garnsey had two points apiece, and Nadiyah Brown had one.
WACO fell to 7-15 with the loss. They'll host Winfield-Mt. Union on Thursday night in the first round of the regional tournament.
