WACO girls outlasted in Danville

DANVILLE - The WACO girls' basketball team gave Danville quite the sweat on Tuesday night. The Warriors held a halftime lead and were knotted up with the Bears after three periods, but fell in the end 36-25.
There were just four points scored in the first quarter, all by WACO. The Warrior defense shut out Danville to take a 4-0 lead into the second quarter.
WACO was outscored 14-11 in the escond quarter but still held a 15-14 at the half. The Bears had the game tied at 23-23, and the Warrior offense went cold in the fourth. Danville outscored WACO 13-2 in the fourth period.
Kristen Conley scored six points to lead WACO in the loss. Clara Schmitz had five. Nadiyah Brown finished with four points and six rebounds. Aubri Garnsey had four points and four assists, and both Laney Graber and Maysan Lee finished the night with three points.
WACO will host Holy Trinity tonight (Friday) before hitting the road to take on Winfield-Mt. Union on Saturday, Dec. 15.
