WACO host annual volleyball tournament
Van Buren County, Pekin and Columbus featured
WAYLAND -- On Monday night, WACO volleyball hosted its annual WACO Tournament featuring team such as Van Buren County, Pekin, Columbus, Centerville, Louisa-Muscatine, Sigourney and Notre Dame.
While Notre Dame took the tournament title with three straight wins, the Union area fared pretty well with each picking up at least one win.
Van Buren County was the biggest winner out of the Union area. The Warriors picked up three victories, all in clean sweeps.
VBC defeated host WACO, Centerville and Pekin all 2-0.
Pekin grabbed a pair of wins all in a third set. Despite falling to the Warriors, the Panthers got the better of Centerville 2-1 and then WACO 2-1.
WACO and Columbus both finished with one win.
The Warriors lone victory came against Centerville, 2-0. As for Columbus, the win came against Louisa-Muscatine.
