WACO opens with boys triumph

The boys high school basketball season started on a high note for WACO Tuesday.
The Warriors took a 43-32 Southeast Iowa Super Conference non-divisional win over the visitors from Wapello.
Drew Kissell popped for 17 while WACO teammate Elijah McGohan netted 10 points in the win.
Only three players scored for Wapello and 6-foot-7 Keaton Mitchell had 21.
Mediapolis 55, Columbus 24
This SEISC North Divisuion game at Columbus Junction was the season opener for both boys teams.
Mediapolis 57, Columbus 18
Angelique Byas was the leading Wildcats scorer in this SEISC North Division girls game with nine points.
Leading scorer for the visitors was Maya Johnson with 19 points.
Byas also led Columbus in rebounds with seven while Anna Hamilton had two assists.
Wapello 44, WACO 23
Nadiyah Brown led WACO with 13 points in this SEISC North Division girls game.
