WAYLAND — On a night where the WACO school district honored former Warrior and North Linn coach Bob Hilmer, the hometown Warriors put the visiting Lynx to quite the test.
WACO welcomed in an undefeated North Linn squad on Thursday night, and the Warriors kept it tight for most of the game, but a rough third quarter kept WACO from pulling any major upsets.
North Linn led the game 19-10 after one quarter, 34-23 at halftime and 47-28 after three periods of the non-conference clash.
Senior Colton Leichty led the Warrior offense with 13 points in the loss. Chase Waterhouse put up eight points. Isaac Rich had seven. Hunter Hughes and Reece Oswald scored six points apiece, and Clayton Miller finished with two.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for a WACO squad that goes into winter break with a 5-3 overall record. The Warriors are also 5-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division.
