WACO rallies back to beat Columbus

WAYLAND - It was the tale of two halves on Tuesday night in Wayland as the WACO boys toppled Columbus in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference crossover game. The Warriors battled back from a double-digit deficit to beat the Wildcats 55-41, WACO's first win of the young season.
It was all Columbus in the first half. The Wildcats dominated the firs tquarter, leading 14-4 after one and 24-11 with three minutes left in the half. WACO snatched momentum before the halftime buzzer, however, and ended the second period on a 7-0 run.
The Warriors continued to chip away at the lead in the third quarter, and eventually took a 33-32 advantage with one minute remaining in the third. Columbus would never lead again, as WACO stretched its lead to 35-32 heading into the fourth and eventually walked out with a 55-41 win.
WACO's Vincent Jones had a monster night, scoring 20 points, 18 of which came in the second half. He had a perfect day from the field, going 9/0.
Simeon Reichenbach, Hunter Hughes and Drew Diers scored six points apiece. Zach Schmitz and Will Edeker had fiv epoints apiece. Taylor Sutton scored four, and Isaac Oswald had three.
Columbus was led by Owen Watson, who was the only Wildcat in double digits, with 14 points. Lekwa ended the night with nine points. Brody Frost and Mason Hodges had six apiece. Grant Watson scored three. Martinez had two, and Mason Hills-Carrie scored one.
