MORAVIA - WACO came into Friday night's game at Moravia having scored only 16 points in their last two games, but the Warriors had no problem finding the end zone against an ailing Mohawk team. WACO jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 44-13 victory.
The WACO defense clamped down in the first half and never let up. Moravia was held scoreless until the third quarter, as WACO took a 16-9 lead after one period and held a 25-0 advantage at halftime.
Moravia played WACO close for the next two quarters, but the damage had already been done, and the Warriors skipped away with a district victory.
Will Edeker had another nice game, going 5-for-10 for 127 yards and two touchdowns and also running for 133 yards and two scores. Receiver Zach Schmitz had a big night as well, catching three passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
Jonah Clark ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns to lead the running backs. Drew Diers had the only other rushing touchdown, a 14-yard score.
Schmitz and Diers coled the WACO defense with 7.5 tackles apiece. The Warriors had three take-aways; a fumble recovery by Tim Willits and interceptions by Edeker and Mason Miller.
WACO is now 2-2 overall and 1-2 in district play. They will travel to play Tri-County (1-3) this week.
