SPRINGVILLE - The WACO boys basketball team had their hands full with top-seeded Springville in its Class 1A District 8 quarterfinal game, and the Warriors didn't have enough to pull off the upset. Springville ran away with a 76-53 victory.
The Orioles put up points all night long. Springville led 25-12 after one quarter, 44-27 at halftime and 63-36 after three quarters.
WACO head coach Paul Kissell said the Warriors struggled with holding on to the ball, crediting Springville for turning WACO turnovers into points on the other end.
Vincent Jones went a perfect 6-for-6 to lead WAO with 13 points. Isaac Oswald scored 11 points. Simeon Reichenbach had nine points and seven rebounds.
Reece Oswald scored eight points in the loss. Jacob Eichelberger and Colton Leichty scored four points apiece, and Hunter Hughes wound up with two points and seven rebounds.
WACO finished the year at 4-18. Springville (21-2) will host Danville (13-7) in the District 8 semifinals on Thursday, with the winner going on to play Notre Dame or New London.
