WACO set to clash with Central City
No. 2 Warriors look to continue postseason journey with matchup against Wildcats

WAYLAND — WACO has been as dominant as they’ve come on the football field this season.
The No. 2 Warriors (10-0) have been near the top of the 8-player rankings all season long and have been one of the favorites to be competing for a state title.
WACO’s quest for the state tournament will continue on Friday will a matchup against the Central City Wildcats (8-1).
Thus far, WACO has yet to be tested, as its handled every opponent.
The Warriors come into the second round contest off a blistering victory over Martensdale-St. Marys in the first round, 57-14.
They will look to do the same on Friday night at home.
Isaac Oswald will lead the Warriors under center. Oswald has thrown for 1,224 yards and 20 touchdowns. He’s also added eight on the ground along with 192 yards.
Simeon Reichenbach has been a force on the ground. He’s rushed for 1,036 yards and 23 touchdowns. Louden Huisenga follows Reichenbach with 376 yards and nine touchdowns.
On the receiving end, Oleh Shtefanchuk has 15 catches for 375 yards and eight touchdowns. Reichenbach has 248 yards and five touchdowns. Mason Miller leads the team in catches with 17 for 226 yards.
Miller also has been some of the best at reading the quarterback’s eyes, as he has amassed eight interceptions on the year. The Warriors have 21 total as a team.
Defensively, Drew Diers leads WACO with 78 total tackles, 56 of which are solo. Colton Leichty follows with 53.5 total tackles.
Central City comes into the game off a 46-26 victory over Tripoli.
The Wildcats are lead at quarterback by Jayden Hanson. Hanson has 600 yards passing and 12 touchdowns.
In the backfield, Aiden Klostermann has 1,170 yards and 20 touchdowns. Matthew Klostermann follows with 532 yards and nine scores.
Through the air, Lucas Greif has double digit catches with 21 total and 282 yards to pace Central City.
Defensively, Mekhi Benton leads with 52 total tackles and Nolan Gates has 44.
The two teams are set to square off at 7 p.m. in Wayland.
