WACO to spend much of 2020 on the road

WAYLAND - WACO's original football schedule had the Warriors playing four regular season home games, but the shake-up in football schedules has WACO playing half as much when the season gets underway.
WACO's two games taken off the schedule were supposed to be their first two home games of the season. The scheduled games against English Valleys and Twin Cedars were both canceled.
'With a young team, it would have been nigh to have those two home games to start the season, instead of having to go to HLV and New London the first two weeks now,” said head coach Chad Edeker when the announcement was made in late July. 'We are in a unique position of losing two home games. Very few teams in the state have that situation.”
Warrior fans who don't' want to travel much this season should get their fill in tonight's scrimmage game against Springville, because WACO will only have two more games at their home field.
After starting the season with back-to-back road games, the Warriors will host Lone Tree in their home opener on September 11 against Lone Tree, which was originally supposed to be their homecoming opponent. The Warriors will now play their homecoming game on Oct. 2, against Montezuma.
Luckily for WACO, two of their road games are in Henry County, where the Warriors reside. WACO plays at New London on September 4, and ends the regular season at Winfield-Mt. Union.
Of course, extra home games could be in store for any teams who do a lot of winning in the regular season. The Iowa High School Athletic Association playoffs begin on October 16.
