WACO, W-MU boys compete at Warrior Relays

WAYLAND - Both the Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO boys' track and field teams competed in the Warrior Relays on Tuesday in a tight Clas B field. W-MU finished one point ahead of WACO, grabbing fifth with 80 points, compared to a 79-point performance from the hosting Warriors.
W-MU had three winners on the day. Brandon Snowden and Juanito Piper finished one-two in the 100-meter dash, crossing in 11.08 seconds and 11.52 seconds respectively. Talon Newton won the high jump in 6-00, and the 4X200 won in 1:35.38.
WACO's Colton Horak and Drew Kissell went one-two in the 110-meter high hurdles. Horak finished in 15.55 seconds, and Kissell crossed in 17.55 seconds. Horak also took the 400-meter hurdles, crossing in 58.07 seconds.
Two WACO relay teams won. The sprint medley took firs tin 1:42.50, and the shuttle hurdle team won in 1:07.15.
Danville won the class with 135 points. The rest of the field was within 20 points of each other with Sigourney scoring 98 points for second, and both Cardinal and Lone Tree tallying 90 points. Wapello scored 166 points to win Class A.
Today (Thursday) is W-MU's turn to host. Both teams will be in Winfield tonight, joined by New London, for the W-MU co-ed meet.
