WACO, W-MU drop first-round district games

The WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union boys? basketball teams have been eliminated from postseason play after suffering losses in their first-round district tournament games last night.
The Warriors dropped a 44-41 decision to Holy Trinity Catholic in Wayland, while the Wolves were knocked out after a 59-29 road loss to Sigourney.
WACO played a close game against the Crusaders, holding a 12-11 edge at the end of the first quarter and a 20-19 lead at halftime.
Holy Trinity?s big third quarter, however, gave the Crusaders a 36-29 lead?, which they were able to hang on to through the end of the contest.
The Warriors end their season with a record of 11-10.
At Sigourney, the Wolves struggled offensively, scoring 10 points or fewer in every quarter: nine in the first, four in the second, six in the third and 10 in the fourth.
Sigourney, meanwhile, never scored fewer than 10 points in a quarter as they coasted to a first round victory.
The Wolves end their season with a record of 8-14.
