WACO, W-MU earn All-District selections

WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union combined to have 19 total to the All-District teams for Class 8-player District 5. The group includes 11 selections for WACO and eight for W-MU. Both programs each had four first team selections.

Warriors running back Hayden Shelman and offensive lineman Adam Stafford were each selected to the first team offense. Shelman ranked second in the district in rushing yards (1,212) and touchdowns (18).

Defensive lineman Trey Edeker and linebacker Niles Reichenbach both earned spots on the first-team defense. Reichenbach was also selected to the first team at kicker.

Winfield-Mt. Union was represented on the first team offense by wide receiver Tayson Samuels, tight end Max Edwards and offensive lineman Grant Anderson. Samuels and Edwards ranked first and second on the district in receiving yards with 615 and 580, respectively. Edwards had eight touchdowns, which was tied for the most in the district.

Winfield-Mt. Union also had a specialist named to the 8-5 first team in Cody Milks. Milks made the first team at punter and earned a spot on the All-District second team at quarterback.

Nick Sparrow also made the second team at running back for the Wolves. Offensive lineman Gabe Cummings and defensive lineman Wyatt Palmer were also second team selections.

Wide receiver Casey Coakley and offensive lineman Nic Pacha each made the second team offensive for WACO. Defensive lineman Tyler Rogers and linebackers Sam Meyer and Raefe Davison were named to the second team defense.

W-MU sophomore running back Kade Sweezer earned All-District honorable mention honors. Center Levi Bachman and defensive back Kellen Shelman were honorable mention selections for WACO.
