WACO whips Wapello, W-MU falls in SEISC Shootout

WAPELLO - The top four South Division teams won their games in the SEISC boys' shootout on Friday night, and that included WACO, which won the battle of third-place teams 51-37 over Wapello.
The Warriors trailed 9-8 after the first quarter, but the Warrior defense held the Indians to just four points in the second quarter. WACO scored nine in the second and led 17-13 at the half.
WACO started to pull away in the third quarter. The Warriors scored 20 points in the third quarter and held a dominant 37-20 lead after three quarters.
Wapello took the fourth quarter 17-14, but the damage had been done by that point, and the Warriors walked out with one of six wins for the South Division on the night.
Nik Coble filled the stat sheet in the win. He scored 15 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and also ended the night with four blocks, four steals, and three assists. Drew Kissell put up 11 points in the win to give the Warriors two double-digit scorers.
Gabe Reichenbach scored nine points in the win. Braden Hammond scored six. Elijah McGohan had five. Matthew Leichty scored three, and Colton Horak finished with two points, seven steals and six assists.
Winfield-Mt. Union lost their game against Central Lee 64-54 despite a red-hot shooting night from Jared Arnold. Arnold hit five three-pointers in the game and co-led the Wolves with 15 points. Christian Gerot had 15 of his own.
Ty Yocum scored nine points in the Wolves' loss. Daunte Oepping had seven. Dawson Bergthold had four. Juanito Piper scored three, and Bryce Wade had one.
In other shootout games, Notre Dame beat Mediapolis 38-34. Danville knocked off Iowa Mennonite 64-63 at the buzzer. Highland took down West Burlington 71-63. Van Buren nipped Lone Tree 70-69. Louisa-Muscatine beat Holy Trinity 62-55, and Columbus cruised past Cardinal 59-45.
