WAYLAND — WACO’s Chad Edeker has been named to the leading role in one of Iowa high school football’s longest heritages. The Warrior leading coach has been named a head coach of the 2024 Iowa Shrine Bowl.
Edeker will lead this year’s South team, which will be made up of senior football players and cheerleaders from across the state, on July 20 at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. The game along with a list of other activities and events raise money for the Shriners’ Children Hospitals and burn centers throughout the Midwest.
He was selected by the Iowa Football Coaches Association to lead this years’ South squad.
Over the last three seasons, Edeker has been one of the top coaches in the area, shepherding WACO to 30 victories. That includes a 13-0 2022-23 season, in which the Warriors battled their way to the 8-player state championship game, finishing as runners-up.
