WACO senior Eli Cavin will continue his track career at the college level. Cavin signed a letter of intent to run men’s track at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington.
Cavin will compete for Coach Lucas Keifer at Southeastern. Keifer has served as the Blackhawks men’s and women’s track and cross country coach since 2020.
“It is a proud moment for the WACO community to see Eli transition his passion for track and field to the collegiate level,” WACO activities director Chad Edeker said in a statement to reporters. “His journey is a testament to the dedication and championship culture we strive for, and we look forward to seeing his continued success as a student athlete.”
Cavin set season highs of 12.73 in the 100 meters and 26.14 in the 200 last season. He’s also competed on relay teams for WACO during his first three seasons.
WACO took part in the 2026 Dickinson Relays earlier this week where Cavin finished in 27.33 in the 200 meters. The Warriors will compete in the IATC Indoor Championships before starting the outdoor season with the Steve Roth Relays at Case Field in Washington.
Cavin is the latest area runner to join Southeastern’s ranks. Keifer has also singed Washington’s Sawyer Tschantz, Mt. Pleasant’s Kynlee White and Van Buren County’s Gavin Noll to his 2026 class.
