WAYLAND — WACO senior Colton Leichty will attend and play football at Grand Vew University next school year. Leichty signed his letter of intent to become a Viking earlier this month.
Leichty, who plays football, basketball and soccer for the Warriors, will further his career on the gridiron after a stellar high school career.
Leichty is the career leader in tackles for a loss and sacks at WACO High School, and also leads the program in tackles by a lineman and fumble recoveries since the Warriors switched to Class 8-Player.
Leichty was a part of WACO’s state runner-up team in the fall of 2022. This fall, Leichty finished the year with 53 total tackles, including seven sacks, 18.5 tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
Leichty will join a Grand View squad that won its first 11 games this season until bowing out in the NAIA quarterfinals.
