Wapello volleyball sinks Columbus

WAPELLO — The Columbus Wildcats were swept by Wapello’s volleyball team Thursday.
The trip to Wapello was not a good one as the Arrows targeted the Wildcats for a 25-5 score in the first set. Columbus gathered itself and made the next two sets closer in the Super Conference North Division match. The Arrows won 25-16, 25-15.
Sara Vela registered 10 assists and Aracely Garza seven for Columbus. Lily Coil and Victoria Howell notched a combined 11 kills and 20 digs. Isabelle Lagunas had eight digs. Vela had four. Vela and Miriam Ruvacalba had two blocks apiece and Faith Barnhart one.
Columbus has a record of 2-11 while Wapello is 12-7. The Wildcats host Winfield-Mount Union Tuesday.
