Ward, Baumann grab all-conference honors
Fairfield senior basketball player Serena Ward has been selected to the first team all-Southeast Conference for the second consecutive season.
Ward was one of six players chosen to the all-senior squad while leading Fairfield to an 8-14 record. Ward wrapped up her time as a Trojan with a 287-point, 114-rebound season, and the long-time starter also led Fairfield in both categories in 2010-11.

Fairfield senior basketball player Serena Ward has been selected to the first team all-Southeast Conference for the second consecutive season.
Ward was one of six players chosen to the all-senior squad while leading Fairfield to an 8-14 record. Ward wrapped up her time as a Trojan with a 287-point, 114-rebound season, and the long-time starter also led Fairfield in both categories in 2010-11.
Junior Sidney Baumann, playing her second year in the starting lineup, snagged all-SEC second team honors. Baumann set career highs in points per game (9.1) and assists per game (2.9) while hauling in 96 boards this season.
Fairfield seniors Taylor Neil and Tori Ogden were all-SEC honorable mention. Neil led the Trojans in steals with 44 and Ogden shot a team-high 69 percent from the foul line.
The Trojans also squeezed more individuals on the conference?s all-academic team than any other squad with 10 selections. Recipients include Baumann, Ward, Ogden, Cierra Bielinski, Kaitlyn Daugherty, Haley Grunwald, Brittany Kurtz, Jessica Lamb, Sage Richmond and Erin Thompson.
Mount Pleasant?s Taylor Shull scored a conference-leading 410 points this season and was recognized as the conference?s player of the year for the second season in a row.
