WAYLAND - The WACO girls basketball team was one win away from its first win of the season on Tuesday night in a Super Conference South Division contest, but a furious comeback from Holy Trinity Catholic spoiled the Warriors' home opener and kept WACO winless. HTC pulled out a thriller, 41-39.
WACO led 11-7 after one quarter, 22-12 at halftime and 35-27 after three quarters. HTC chopped that lead down to four points, at 39-35, with one minute to go, and scored six unanswered points down the stretch to steal the victory.
Morgan Graber and Ellah Kissell co-led the Warriors with nine points apiece in the loss. Katie Leichty scored eigiht points. Tesla Malloy had seven. Grace Coble scored four, and Molly McLaughlin had two.
