Warriors blowout another SEISC foe

The Van Buren girls' basketball team improved to 3-0 Tuesday night after defeating West Burlington 62-40 on the road.
The Warriors slowly pulled away from the Falcons with 13-10 and 12-10 advantages during the first two quarters, respectively, before Coach Matt Zeitler's squad widened the margin with a 19-8 outburst in the third and a 16-12 fourth to finish off their opponents.
Junior Taryn Scheuermann was 15-22 from the field for 34 points, including 2-5 from behind the arc and 2-3 from the foul line. The 6'3 all-state selection also had 13 rebounds, an assist and seven blocks while only committing three fouls. Sophomore guard Isabel Manning also scored in double figures with 10 points to go with four rebounds, an assist and four steals.
Other contributors: Madison Bartholomew seven points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks; Chloe Davidson five points, four rebounds, five assists and a steal; Grace Davidson two points, six rebounds, eight assists and two steals; Lexi Jirak two points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal; Zoe Best two points and an assist.
The victory is the third-straight 17-plus point victory for Van Buren who is also 3-0 in the SEISC heading into a home contest with Cardinal on Friday.
