Warriors win, Huskies out

RIVERSIDE - The Class 1A postseason started and ended Friday for Highland. The Huskies lost the home boys basketball game to WACO 55-52.
WACO, which has a 4-17 record, advances to play at eighth-ranked Springville (20-2) tonight.
The Warriors built their lead to 11 points in the final quarter, but missed free throws allowed a late Highland run. WACO was 18-of-30 on free throws, Highland 9-for-21.
Both teams 'struggled early offensively, but picked it up in the second quarter,” WACO coach Paul Kissell said.
Highland was up a point after the first quarter and WACO was up a point after the third. The game was 17-17 at halftime.
Simeon Reichenbach was the top dog in a very balanced WACO stat sheet with 10 points and seven rebounds. Hunter Hughes and Reece Oswald put up nine points each while Vincent Jones had eight and Isaac Oswald seven. Hughes six assists, five steals and four rebounds. Zach Schmitz had five rebounds.
Tristan Stokes scored 10 in the loss. Chase Schultz and Colby Stokes netted 14 points and five rebounds apiece. The pair downed five of Highland's seven made 3-pointers. Kaige Vonnahme and Connor Bonebrake each netted a three.
