Washington 7th-grade girls basketball team ends season

The Washington seventh-grade girls basketball team ended their season Friday, Feb. 24, playing at Mt. Pleasant. The A team lost their game 6-35 and the B team lost 4-7.

Washington trailed in the A game from the beginning as they were down 2-8 after the first quarter. Mt. Pleasant kept Washington scoreless in the second quarter while putting up six of their own.

Washington had two points in the third quarter to Mt. Pleasant?s 12 and added another two in the fourth and Mt. Pleasant scored nine points to get the win.

Ava Turner, Chloe Staley and Rylee Fishback each scored two points in the game.

Kelsey Pacha had nine rebounds and two steals in the game. Fishback had four rebounds and two steals. Jenna Messer had three rebounds and one steal.

Staley had three rebounds. Grace Schiebel had two rebounds and having one rebound each were Turner, Ella Leyden, Elyse Hunt and Emma Zahs.

In the B Game, Washington was ahead 2-0 after the first quarter, but Mt. Pleasant scored their entire seven points in the second quarter while Washington only scored two. Neither team scored the rest of the game, giving Mt. Pleasant the win.

Ausha Clark and Brianna Williams scored two points apiece in the game.

Sami Smith had eight rebounds and Danica Brown had three while Ausha Clark, Brianna Williams, Staley, Hailey Flynn and Lexi Dickerson each had two rebounds in the game.
