Washington 8th grade basketball teams play twice in last week
The Washington eighth-grade boys basketball teams had a busy couple of days recently as they played at Ottumwa Thursday, Jan. 19, and at home versus Aldo Leopold Monday, Jan. 23.
In the battle against Ottumwa, the A team lost 19-41. Trashaun Willis led the scoring with six points.
Both Wilx Witthoft and Noah Suchan had five points each, Zac Stout had two points and scoring one point was Spencer Sotello.

The Washington eighth-grade boys basketball teams had a busy couple of days recently as they played at Ottumwa Thursday, Jan. 19, and at home versus Aldo Leopold Monday, Jan. 23.
In the battle against Ottumwa, the A team lost 19-41. Trashaun Willis led the scoring with six points.
Both Wilx Witthoft and Noah Suchan had five points each, Zac Stout had two points and scoring one point was Spencer Sotello.
In the B game, Washington won 21-18 with Luciano Marcelino leading the way with seven points.
Reece Mayer followed with five points, Zayne Laws scored four, Quinn Alexander had three points and Jack Strabala scored two.
The teams were host to Aldo Leopold Monday, Jan. 23, where the A team won their game 37-36 in overtime.
Willis had a double-double in the game after scoring 11 points and having 14 rebounds. Witthoft had eight points and six rebounds. Suchan scored seven points.
Zac Stout had five points and one rebound. Kael Adam had four points and two rebounds.
Sotello had two points, one rebound and two steals while Wyatt Stout had two rebounds in the game.
The B team was also successful over Aldo Leopold, winning their game 19-18.
Alexander scored six points and had 10 rebounds in the game. Laws also scored six points in the game while having eight rebounds.
Strabala had five points, one rebound and three steals. Reece Mayer scored two points and had one steal.
Jimmy Cardosa and Keaton Zear both had three rebounds while Luciano Marcelino had one rebound in the game.
The C team also won their game Monday, by a final score of 13-7 with Chase Messamaker and Cardosa leading the team in scoring with four points each.
Messamaker also had one rebound in the game. Loren Rice scored three points and had two rebounds.
Bryan Martin had two points and seven rebounds. Luciano Marcelino, Daniel Marcelino and Roy Carter had one rebound each while Brayton Warren had two steals.
The A team is 2-1, the B team has a 3-0 record while the C team is 1-1 for the season.
The next time the boys play is Thursday, Jan. 26, at Keokuk beginning at 4:30 p.m.
