Washington and IMS girls track teams compete at Central College indoor meet

The Washington girls track team was part of an indoor meet at Central College Saturday, March 18, with many performing well.

The Iowa Mennonite girls? track and field team opened their season at the same event.

This is a large meet with a shortened order of events and unlimited team entries in each event. No team scores are kept.

Hannah Anderson qualified to run in the finals of the 60-meter dash. She came in third place with a time of 8.07 seconds.

The combination of Leah Marek, Ashley Telleen, Jenah Greiner and Isabel Bailey finished the 4x200-meter relay in sixth place with a time of 1:56.62.

IMS sophomore Suzanna Yoder won her heat in the 400-meter dash placing fifth out of 104 with a time of 1:05.42.

This is a personal best. Senior Calli Shaw also won her heat in 1:08.58 to place 22nd.

Yoder and Shaw also placed high in the 60-meter dash with times of 8.49 and 8.84 respectively.

Yoder made it to the finals eventually placing 10th while Shaw placed 33rd out of 198 athletes.

Mackenzie Gutierrez and Rubye Ney joined Yoder and Shaw in the 4x200-meter relay to place ninth in 1:59.28.

Ney was also 13th in the 60-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 10.64. Yoder was seventh in the long jump jumping 14 feet 2 inches.

Both IMS track and field teams next compete March 30, in Danville.
