Washington archers dominate home shoot

The Washington Archery team returned home on Sunday, and came away with huge success.
The Lincoln Elementary team and Washington High School team each finished in first place, ahead of Cardinal, while the Washington Middle School took second at the meet.
Starting with the elementary results, the team scored a 2,843, to defeat Cardinal by more than 200 points, while the Demons took home multiple individual honors.
Allison Rees picked up a 262 to win the elementary competition, while Curtis Stender finished with a 259 to lead all elementary boys.
Duston Sorrels picked up second among elementary boys with a 254, while Iris Peterson shot a 248 for second among the girls.
Hayden Janecek finished in third place among the elementary girls, shooting a 237, matching the number shot by Trenton Heisdorffer and Ethan Mesch, who finished in fourth and fifth place in the boys? competition.
The middle school finished the meet with a score of 3,055, only 100 back of Cardinal.
Emily Waite led the way with a 275, good for first among the middle school girls, while Samantha Mellinger finished in second with a 272.
Lane Frana led the Washington Middle School boys with a 267, which was good for seventh place.
In the high school competition, Jade Wells won the overall shoot, notching a 287 to her credit, while Kylee Porter had a 272 to finish in fourth among the girl competitors.
Ben Baughman and Joseph Dalziel finished in sixth and seventh place respectively among the boys, with a 270, while Meredith Raber notched the same score for fifth place among the girls.
The high school team recorded a 3,195, edging out Cardinal by 11 points.
The next competition for the Washington archers will be at Springville on Saturday morning.
