Washington archery teams do well at Ottumwa Saturday
The three Washington archery teams had an outstanding day Saturday, Feb. 11, at a tournament in Ottumwa.
The high school team took first place out of six teams with a score of 3,307.
The middle school came in second place out of six teams with a season high score of 3,275.
The Lincoln Elementary team placed second out of four teams with a 2,658, their season?s highest team score.

The three Washington archery teams had an outstanding day Saturday, Feb. 11, at a tournament in Ottumwa.
The high school team took first place out of six teams with a score of 3,307.
The middle school came in second place out of six teams with a season high score of 3,275.
The Lincoln Elementary team placed second out of four teams with a 2,658, their season?s highest team score.
The top finisher out of 61 girls was Samantha Mellinger, who came in first place with a 291. Grace Shafer had a 285, coming in fourth and Kylee Porter came in 19th with a 265.
There were 51 archers in the high school boys division, where John Sands came in second place with a 287.
Cody Mellinger followed in third with a 282 and James Zabel in fourth with a 280. Mitchell Driscoll finished in seventh place with a 278, Griffin Wood came in eighth with a 277 and Adam Todd came in 12th with a 274.
Allison Rees finished in second place out of 77 middle school girls with a 289.
Zoe Kane came in third with a 280, Samantha Frana had a 275 for a sixth-place finish and Anna Miller came in 12th with a 271.
Bryan Martin finished with a 278 taking fifth place out of 107 archers in the middle school boys division.
Cooper Reed and Curtis Stender both shot a 272 to finish in 13th and 14th place respectively and Duston Sorrells had a 270 for a 17th-place finish.
Sammy Joe Helfrich was 11th out of 65 in the elementary girls division. She shot a 235 and Makynna Morgan came in 13th with a 224.
Miguel Torres finished in first place out of the 65 elementary boys with a 259.
Ethen Mesch had a 249 to take seventh. Blake Evans came in 11th with a 233.
Caleb Zieglowsky came in 13th with a 229 and John Adams finished in 17th place with a 221.
The high school team is ranked in fourth place in the state, the middle school is in second place and Lincoln Elementary is in 12th place.
The next tournament for the team is Saturday, Feb. 18, at Mt. Vernon, beginning at 8 a.m.
