Washington archery teams do well in Eddyville tournament
The Washington archery teams participated in a tournament at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Saturday, Jan. 21, with all three teams placing toward the top of finishers.
The high school team finished in second place with a team score of 3,295. Samantha Mellinger was the leader in the girls division, coming in first place with a score of 290.

The Washington archery teams participated in a tournament at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Saturday, Jan. 21, with all three teams placing toward the top of finishers.
The high school team finished in second place with a team score of 3,295. Samantha Mellinger was the leader in the girls division, coming in first place with a score of 290.
Grace Shafer followed in fourth with a 280, Maggie Morgan came in ninth with a 277 and Kylee Porter finished in 10th with a 275.
Other girls competing Saturday were Paige Hyde scoring a 263 to take 25th place. Adrianna Smith finished in 28th with a 262. Megan Lillie finished in 31st place with a 260.
Samantha Reighard scored a 259 to finish in 33rd place. Macy Driscoll finished in 46th with a 247.
Willow Kane finished in 52nd with a 238. Hailey Shultz came in 60th with a 221 and Meghan Case finished in 68th with a 188.
Adison Shelman came in 48th place in the individual competitors with a 246. Jessica Hora followed in 49th place with a 244.
Grace Emry came in 56th with a 230. Ayanna Alvarez came in 62nd with a 217.
Leading the way for the high school boys was James Zabel in fifth place with a 282, John Sands had a 280 to finish in seventh and Griffin Wood came in ninth with a 278.
Other finishers on the high school team were Mitchell Driscoll in 16th with a 274. Adam Todd came in 30th with a 266.
Cody McClanahan finished in 33rd with a 266 followed by Braeden Duwa in 34th with a 264.
Cody Mellinger came in 39th with a 261. Lucas Ellis came in 47th with a 255. Dalton Applegate finished in 51st with a 250.
Johnathan Bartholomew had a score of 243 to finish in 56th place. Colton Warth finished in 64th with a 229. Caleb Baxter finished 61st in the individual competitors with a 233.
The middle school team finished the day in first place with a team score of 3,226. Leaders for the girls division was Allison Rees in eighth with a 272 and Anna Miller coming in 12th place with a 268.
Others taking part from the middle school girls team were Alexis Ide with a 267 to finish in 13th followed by Anna Venenga in 14th with a 267 and Samantha Frana in 15th with a 266. Kenna Rathmell came in 17th with a 266.
Aurora Kane came in 26th with a 257. Zoe Kane came in 51st with a 235. Hayden Janecek finished in 55th with a 225.
Paige LaBelle came in 30th with a 257 in the individual placers. Iris Peterson took 50th with a 236. Ariel Mills came in 52nd with a 234. Sarah Newman came in 58th with a 220.
Launa Rathmell took 63rd with a 204 and Taylor Johnson came in 73rd with a 178.
Leaders in the boys division were Bryan Martin with a 279, finishing in second place. Lane Frana came in fifth with a 275, Curtis Stender ended in eighth place having a 274 and Cooper Reed came in 12th with a 270.
Among the other middle school finishers were Alex Craff in 22nd place with a 262. Duston Sorrells came in 27th with a 260. Noah Kleese finished in 37th with a 256.
Myles Jones came in 39th with a 255. Ethan Heginger had a 254 to finish in 42nd place.
Bryce DeWolf came in 44th with a 253. Olin Wells came in 50th with a 251. Chance Brown came in 55th with a 248.
Kaden Bex scored a 222 to finish in 92nd. Austin Goldsmith came in 97th with a 217. Garrett Conway took 105th with a 211.
Reed Hoffert took 17th place in the middle school boys individual scorers with a 267. Trenton Heisdorffer came in 43rd with a 253.
Riley Kasper finished in 57th with a 248 followed by Dustin Levsen in 58th with a 247. Jonathan Moore came in 62nd with a 245.
Joey LaBelle followed in 63rd place with a 245. Evan Rathmell came in 65th place with a 244.
Levi Applegate took 68th with a 241. Caden Evans came in 70th with a 239. Levy Palacios scored 235 to take 77th. Wilfido Godinez took 81st place with a 231.
Zander Laws came in 88th with a 224. Lucas King took 93rd place with a 221. Chase Messamaker came in 102nd with a 212.
Jacob Anderson followed in 103rd place with a 212. Zayne Laws came in 106th with a 211. William Peterson came in 108th with a 207.
The Lincoln Elementary School team took third place with a team score of 2,450.
Leaders for the girls division were Emmersyn Wenger in seventh with a 236 and Sammy Jo Helfrich coming in 16th with a 219.
Others on the elementary team taking part were Makynna Morgan, who came in 19th with a 215 and Destiny Godwin, who came in 29th with a 181.
Rachel Sands took 33rd with a 170. Jade Sheetz came in 36th with a 164. Avery Marner came in 46th with a 135.
Kyann Miller had a score of 128 to take 49th place. Madison Conway came in 53rd with a 109.
Peggy Miller took part in the individual competition finishing in 41st with a 153. Taylor Moore came in 54th with a 99. Kiley Rude finished in 56th with a score of 88.
Leaders for the boys division were Landon Messer in 11th with a 237 and Blake Evans in 16th place with a 228.
Others scoring for the boys elementary team were Caleb Zieglowsky with a 216, finishing in 25th. Miguel Torres Jr. scored 211 and finished in 27th.
Ethan Mesch came in 37th with a 211. Morgan Anderson came in 38th with a 180. Gage Brock finished in 39th with a 175. Andy LaBelle came in 46th with a 167. Cash Pepper took 48th with a 165.
Nic Zabel came in 58th with a 141. Blaine Hodson took 62nd place with a 126. Charlie Halvorson followed in 63rd with a 110 and Tyler Alderton in 64th with a 107.
Gabe Tinnes came in 26th in the individual scorers with a 216.
As of Friday, Jan. 20, the high school team was ranked third out of 37 teams. The middle school is in fifth out of 29 teams and Lincoln Elementary School?s team is 10th out of 22 teams.
The teams next compete Saturday, Jan. 28, at Alburnett, starting at 8 a.m.
