Washington archery teams place well at Cedar Rapids Prairie Point meet
The Washington Archery Program had another successful tournament at Cedar Rapids Prairie Point Saturday, Feb. 4. The high school and middle school teams placed first and the elementary team placed fourth.
The high school team scored a season high 3,351 points, giving them first place out of eight teams.

The Washington Archery Program had another successful tournament at Cedar Rapids Prairie Point Saturday, Feb. 4. The high school and middle school teams placed first and the elementary team placed fourth.
The high school team scored a season high 3,351 points, giving them first place out of eight teams.
In the girls? division, medal winners were Samantha Mellinger in first place with a score of 293 and Grace Shafer in second place with a score of 289.
Maggie Morgan shot a 267 and placed 22nd, Kylee Porter shot a 265 and placed 24th, and Hannah Frame shot a 265 and placed 25th.
Boys' division medal winners were Griffin Wood in first place with a score of 291 and Mitchell Driscoll in third place with a score of 290.
John Sands shot a 283 for seventh place, while Cody Mellinger, Adam Todd, and James Zabel shot a 279 to tie for 11th place.
The middle school team scored 3,252 and placed first out of seven teams.
In the boys' division medal winners were Curtis Stender in second place with a 279 and Bryan Martin taking third place, also with a 279.
Cooper Read shot 277 and placed fourth, Lane Frana shot 272 and placed sixth, Hunter Shultz shot 270 and placed 12th, Duston Sorrells shot a 266 and placed 14th, and Bryce DeWolf shot a 266 and placed 15th.
The third place medal winner for middle school girls was Allison Rees, who shot a 277.
Samantha Frana placed sixth with a 273, Alexis Ide placed 14th with a 268, and Anna Venenga placed 18th with a 265.
The Lincoln Elementary School team scored 2,582 and placed fourth out of six teams.
In the girls' division, Makynna Morgan shot a 242 and placed sixth, Destiny Godwin shot a 224 and placed 19th, and Emmersyn Wenger shot a 215 and placed 24th.
In the boys' division Landon Messer shot a 234 with four tens and placed 14th, Blake Evans shot a 234 with two tens and placed 15th, Miguel Torres Jr. shot a 206 and placed 30th.
The rest of the season's tournaments will be held at Ottumwa Saturday, Feb. 11; Mt. Vernon Feb. 18; Washington Feb. 25; and the State tournament is in Des Moines March 3 and 4.
