DEWITT — Washington baseball’s season came to a close on Friday night with a 10-2 loss to Central DeWitt.
The Demons fell behind early in the Class 3A Substate 5 opener and could never get back into it.
The Sabers scored a trio of runs in the first inning and once more in the second to race out a 4-0 lead.
Washington cut the deficit in half with a pair of runs in the third, making it 4-2, but that’s as close as they would come.
Meanwhile, Central DeWitt followed with a game high four runs in fourth to pull away 8-2. The Sabers scored twice more before the game came to a close.
Blayze Richardson had three hits for Washington including one run. Luke Beenblossom and Caleb Zieglowsky each had one hit and one RBI.
With the loss, the Demons end the season at 5-21.
