Washington baseball closes season against Assumption

DAVENPORT — Washington baseball saw its season come to a close on Friday night with a 10-0 loss to the Knights of Davenport Assumption in Class 3A Region 4 action.

The Knights were quick to score with a pair in the first inning and they would never lose the advantage.

Washington did well to limit Assumption through the next two innings, but the Knights sealed it through the fourth and fifth.

Assumption went on to plate two in the fourth and six more in the fifth to cap off the first round bout.

The Knights were about as stout as they could be on the defensive end as the Demons notched just one hit in the game.

Sophomore Aaron Boone picked up the lone base knock for Washington.

Senior Isaac Vetter started on the hill and gave up two runs on four hits in three innings of action while striking out three.

Washington finishes the season with a record of 4-23.

Five players will be lost to graduation, including Vetter, Ethan Patterson, James Strabala, Austin Rebling and Brian Fritz.
